Licensing and Vaccinations
Eagar animal ordinances require the licensing and vaccination of all pets.
Dogs are licensed for the first year, and every three years thereafter. The
cost for licensing a dog is $5.00 for spayed/neutered pets, $25.00 for
others. Owners with unlicensed animals may be subject to fines.
Once a year, in conjunction with a local veterinarian, the Animal Control
Officer runs a rabies clinic, in which pets can be licensed, and
vaccinations are offered at a reduced rate.
Residents in the Town of Eagar are allowed only four (4) dogs per residence.
If a Town of Eagar resident owns, keeps, possesses, harbors or maintains
more than four (4) dogs per residence they must obtain a Kennel Permit.
Education Programs
The Animal Control
Officer offers public education programs that center on the proper care and
treatment of pets, and the roles and responsibilities of the owner. Please
contact the Police Department for information on these programs and dates.
Loose and Nuisance Animals
Eagar Town ordinances require that owners control their pets to ensure the
quiet quality of life that our community is known for. Dogs that are impounded are subject to a $25.00 impound fee,
plus $5.00 for each day the animal is kept in the impound. Thus, the minimum
impound fee for a loose pet is $30.00.
. Each time the dog is
impounded the impound fee will double. (Second offense $50.00, third offense
$100.00, etc.) attempts will be made to contact the owner.
Animals are kept for three days, and if the
dog is licensed or known, attempts will be made to contact the owner . To
release a dog, Animal Control should be contacted during business hours, and
the pet will be released the next day.
The owner of any dog issued a citation for Dog at large that occurred
between the hours of 6:00 pm and 8:00 am will be fined twice the amount of
the normal fine.
To release a dog,
Animal Control should be contacted during business hours, and the pet will be
released the next day.
